Facade design
Location : PNR Felicity mall, Bangalore, India

A project that we intervened mid-way through and gave the structure a façade that stood out in the local context. Breaking this typical norm of 'luxury mall/ glass clad mall'  turned into an attempt to use conventional façade treatments that showcased more character. The question was that, if the mall walls are filled with hoardings and advertisements, why use expensive glazing in the first place and create local heat islands.
 
This led us to use stained stucco walls to create a macro mosaic composition of a façade. We always felt the hoarding or display methods are an uncontrolled aspect that create visual chaos in the skyline and streetscapes of Bangalore. Our façade grid organizes the hoardings and at the same time restrains them preserving the aesthetic front of the mall.
